Join us this Sunday afternoon, Feb. 20, starting at 2:30 p.m. for a group photo shoot / workshop / jam session onSTILL LIFE photography. We’ll hold this at ‘The House‘ located at 104 Laverne Street.
What to bring?
- You can bring anything from some old cameras/collectibles to a basket of fruit.
- We’ll have a few flashes and window light to work with. I’ll try and bring a background or two as well.
- Also you can just come and shoot someone else’s setup too, I’m sure they won’t mind! =)
If you have a laptop, you can bring that to do editing as well.
We might even work on a few portraits using available light.
If you have any questions feel free to email at info@sumtershutterbugs.com.
Thanks,
Chris
Congrats to Paul!!

Way to go Paul!
Congratulations are in order for our very own Paul Wilkinson who won 1st Place for his photo entitled, “Cattle Egrets,” during this past weekend’s annual Carolinas’ Nature Photographers Association held in Charlotte. The photo won first place in the Birds category of the Members Choice Contest 2011.
There were more than 420 photographers present this past weekend. Those who entered where only allowed to enter (1) one photograph, period.
Here some information from CNPA’s website about the contest:
A much anticipated feature of our annual meetings is the Members’ Choice Contest. Members present prints in the competition and are themselves the judges. Each member attending the annual meeting votes to select winners in each category and also the “Best of Show” overall winner. Each year the categories are selected by the CNPA board. In past years categories have included Landscape, Wildlife, Macro, Digital Manipulation, and Birds.
Feb mtg, another good one!

We’re all about pics! =)
This past Thursday we shared a slideshow of images from our Urban Decay walkabout held recently. Then SDCC club member Chris Ferry led a nice discussion about how to properly critique an image. After his talk we showed our assignments and photos of the month. Once again we offered a critique and editing options via Lightroom for improvements on the photos. Everyone seems to really enjoy this new format. Here are comments from one of our club members following the meeting:
The meeting was really helpful. The presentations were great. I enjoyed the Lightroom show with music. Keep up the great work!
We had close to 3 dozen present for this month’s meeting, good job guys! We’re looking forward to our March meeting.
Please note that we will be having a walkabout/photo outing/meeting at the club house this Sunday, Feb. 20. We’ll probably meet up about 2:30 or 3 pm. Look here for more details later this week.
Happy shooting!
Chris
